Come to the park tonight, July 18th at 20:30 for the annual concert in memory of Daniel Pearl, organized by Harmonica Harold. Hidden in a small park between the apartment towers of Ramat Aviv Gimmel is an over-sized chess amphitheatre that magically turns into a free folk music concert. The venue is so unplugged that the sound is absolutely natural, the stage is a marble checkerboard surrounded by candle light. Seating is either on stone tiers or on the grassy knolls under the trees. The summer evening atmosphere is festive, joyous and relaxed and free.

There is a terrific line-up of musicians:
SHAY TOCHNER & GUY DAGAN, SUN TAYLOR, BARRY THE PIRATE GILBERT, SHARON NE’EMAN, JOKERS & THIEVES, JUDY COHEN, ARIELA & LIANE & LEAH (ALL), WILD HAIR (BLUEGRASS), FERNANDO SEIXAS, TOBY SHAMIR, ELIOT DOBIN, MORAN MAGAL, ELI MARCUS, SHELLEY ELLEN, TALI SACHS, HARMONICA HAROLD & the midnight jam.

Daniel Pearl, Wall Street Journal reporter and musician, was kidnapped and murdered in 2002 by extremists in Karachi, Pakistan. His friend and band-mate Todd Mack founded Friends of Daniel Pearl Fest (FODfest) in 2005,  connecting people, empowering and educating communities through music, organizing free concerts, school programs and multi-media productions. The first FODfest concert in the Ramat Aviv park was organized by Harold in 2010, since then it has become a beloved tradition. A night to remember Daniel Pearl, his vision, hopes, beliefs and love for music.

The park is just opposite 5 Kashani Street in Ramat Aviv Gimel, Tel Aviv.

  1. The fabulously funny Barbershop Quartet CHUTZPAH will be replacing Jokers & Thieves and the wonderful Sharon Klein will be joining the performer roster.
