Baba Joon, Yuval Delshad’s film depicting the relationship between father and son within the Persian-immigrant community, was awarded Best Feature Film at the Ophir Awards ceremony on September 21, 2015. One of the interesting aspects of the film is that its dialogue is mostly in Farsi, a first in Israel. The film has not yet been released in theatres here, and will make its Israeli premiere at the Haifa International Film Festival. Winning Best Feature at the Ophir Awards endows the film with yet another prize: being chosen as Israel’s foreign language Oscar submission. Baba Joon garnered five Ophir Awards including: cinematography, music, art direction and casting.
