The power of raw emotions spun into ethereal dreams, troubled dreams that walk through the streets at night – that’s Scott Matthew. The Australian-born, New York based singer/songwriter will be coming to Israel for one performance on December 15, 2015 at Levontin 7 in Tel Aviv. What a perfect venue for the intimate, otherworldly, yet somehow rough and gritty ambiance of this performer.

Just listen: Skyline, from his latest album This Here Defeat, is simply sublime.

After moving to New York in 1997, Matthew was a member of the band Elva Snow, and performed vocals on anime soundtracks including the film Cowboy Bebop: Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door (2001) and the series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, both produced by composer Yoko Kanno. He became known to a wider audience through his significant contribution to the soundtrack for John Cameron Mitchell’s film Shortbus (2006), with five original songs: Upside Down, Surgery, Language, Little Bird, and In the End. These, and others appear on his debut solo album, Scott Matthew, released in 2008.

Matthew has released four original albums to date: Scott Matthew (2008), There is an Ocean That Divides… (2009), Gallantry’s Favorite Son (2011) and This Here Defeat (2015). His cover album, Unlearned, released in 2013, opens up new worlds of emotion in a precise, and tempestuous selection of songs.

Scott Matthew will be coming to Israel thanks to Ohad Ezraty of Zuzz Agency, who brought the memorable performance of Low to the Barby last January. Tickets are available at 119 NIS advance purchase, and will be 140 NIS at the door (if any are left). Tickets may be purchased online via this link. Check out the facebook event page for updates.
