Israeli filmmakers – the 33rd Jerusalem Film Festival is currently open for submissions! The deadline for submissions is Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 12:00 noon, and the rewards are high: in addition to monetary prizes, the festival is an excellent showcase for Israeli films, attracting both local audiences and international industry members. A new perk for filmmakers – last year the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences recognized the Jerusalem Film Festival

Films may be submitted for the following competitions: The Haggiag Competition for Best Feature Film, The Van Leer Competition for Best Documentary Film, The Van Leer Competition for Best Short, and the Israeli Video Art and Experimental Cinema Competition. The prizes are intended to encourage and foster Israeli filmmaking, and to reward innovation, creativity and excellence in film.

The 33rd Jerusalem Film Festival will take place from July 7 – 17, 2016 at the Jerusalem Cinematheque, and other theatres throughout the city. The annual Pitchpoint event, where filmmakers present their ideas and works in progress before a panel of industry professionals, will take place from July 10 – 11, 2016, in cooperation with the Israeli Film Fund and the Jerusalem Film and Television Fund.
