Midnight East is going galactic \u2013 the hot recommendation of the day is not in Tel Aviv, and not even in Israel. If you\u2019re a SCI-FI fan, or even an ordinary film buff, \u201cFantastic Turmoil: A Journey Through Israeli Short Genre Films\u201d<\/a> is certain to be a fascinating cinematic experience that presents a different perspective on Israeli culture. The program of short films, curated by Uri Aviv, General Director of ICON TLV<\/a> \u2013 The Israeli International SF Festival, will be shown at SCI-FI London on Monday, May 2, 2011 at 10:45 at the Apollo Piccadilly Circus. SCI-FI London is celebrating its 10th year as the UK\u2019s leading genre film festival. The festival was started by Louis Savy, like many other terrific festivals, as he says, \u201cbecause there wasn\u2019t one.\u201d<\/p>\n

Israeli films have enjoyed a creative surge over the past 10 \u2013 15 years, and genre films are no exception. Yet, aside from film festivals, these genre shorts are rarely shown and therefore not as well known as Israeli feature films. This is an exceptional opportunity to see a selection of recent films, presented by Uri Aviv, an expert in the field.<\/p>\n

Everyone Wants <\/strong>(2010, 6 min.)

\nA professor and his student argue over fact vs. fabrication in the students’ study. The student finds an original way to correct his mistakes.<\/p>\n

Secular Quarter #3<\/strong> (2010, 3 min)

\nWinner, 1st prize, the Jerusalem 2111 international science fiction and animation competition. A divided Jerusalem with segregated communities becomes complete again, by the intervention of outsiders\u2026<\/p>\n
