The opening event of the Jerusalem Season of Culture, the festival will include discussions, tours, music, and dance. FILM<\/strong> \u2013 DocAviv 2011<\/a> will open on May 12, 2011 with the film \u201cLife in a Day\u201d a user-generated documentary film project by YouTube, produced by Ridley Scott, directed by Kevin MacDonald, and edited by Joe Walker, who will be a guest of the festival. Spooky, followed by a discussion with Dr. Roy Brand, Director and Chief Curator of Yaffo 23; Joshua Simon and Mushon Zer-Aviv, as part of the Mishkenot Sha’ananim Philosophy Festival “What’s On Your Mind?” More events to come at the gallery through June 24 – check back for updates!

THEATRE<\/strong> \u2013 May 16 \u2013 18 – Hamlet, The Clown Prince \u2013 a guest production from India \u2013 Hamlet as seen through the eyes of a clown. Cameri Theatre, 20:30.
\nMay 18 \u2013 24 \u2013 The Human Scale, written and performed by Lawrence Wright<\/a>, and directed by Oskar Eustis, is a solo piece that explores the conflict in Gaza. Wright performs the piece, which originated in his article on Gaza in the New Yorker, \u201cCaptives: What Really Happened in the Israeli Attacks.\u201d The performance will take place in English, without translation into Hebrew. Wright\u2019s history of al-Qaeda, The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9\/11 was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction. His successful one-person play, \u201cMy Trip to al-Qaeda\u201d was made into a documentary film directed by Alex Gibney, and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2010.
