Guri Alfi and Roy Levi will stand up in the dark tonight, June 5, 2011, at the Israeli Children\u2019s Museum in Holon<\/a>, 1 Mifratz Shlomo Street, Peres Park, Holon, 1599-585858, ext. 3. The stand-up comedy performance will take place in the \u201cDialogue in the Dark\u201d exhibit at 21:00, as the launch event for Blind Day, June 6, 2011.<\/p>\n

Blind Day events aim to promote awareness of the blind and vision-impaired members of our community and are sponsored by a group called \u201cHushim BeTzeva<\/a>\u201d (roughly translated as \u201cSenses in Color\u201d). Hushaim BeTzeva students are vision-impaired visionaries who are training to use their verbal skills and creativity to enter the field of public relations. Blind Day is an idea that came up in the course of their studies and will go into action \u2013 tomorrow, June 6, 2011, with the collaboration of Aleh Association<\/a> and volunteers from Keren Impact, actors Guri Alfi and Roy Levi, who along with many others, are volunteering their efforts to raise the public’s awareness.<\/p>\n

Start the day with a morning run (blindfolded, of course!) at Hayarkon Park, with Guy Ben Dor, who ran with Beza Nababa at the Olympics in Beijing and was his partner in climbing Mount Everest. The run will begin at 7:30 and end at around 9:30. Please register with Michal at 050-3772130.<\/p>\n

There will be a special session of the Knesset and stands will be set up in the corridors where Knesset members can try their hand at making themselves a cup of coffee without looking.<\/p>\n

The Botanic Garden in Jerusalem will host activities beginning at 12:00, a tour of the garden emphasizing scents and sensations along the path. Please register with Maya at 02-6794012, extension 4.<\/p>\n

An exhibit of photographs by blind and vision-impaired photographers will open on June 6, 2011 at Beit Ariela on Shaul Hamelech Blvd. in Tel Aviv. The exhibit will remain up for one week.<\/p>\n

The student organization of the Open University will hold events at several university campuses, it is recommended to arrive before the talk begins to enjoy the event fully:<\/p>\n

Haifa \u2013 Beit Biram, 15 Abba Hushi Street, there will be a talk from 16:00 \u2013 17:30, and a coffee stand where visitors can try to prepare coffee without the use of their eyes.<\/p>\n

Jerusalem \u2013 the Technological Garden, Building 8, near the Malcha Mall. Coffee stand & a talk from 15:00 \u2013 17:00.<\/p>\n

There will be a special event at the Jewish Institute for the Blind in Jerusalem<\/a>, beginning at 18:00 outside the building and continuing with a youth theatre performance at 20:00. For additional information call Ilan at 050-2743505.<\/p>\n

A celebratory meal will take place at the Black Out restaurant at the Na Laga\u2019at Centre <\/a>in Jaffa Port, where delicious (highly recommended by Midnight East!) meals are served in complete darkness by a staff of excellent waiters.
