Luis Bravo\u2019s Forever Tango<\/em> is coming to Israel with performances in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa, in September, 2011.<\/p>\n

Forever Tango<\/em> presents the history of the dramatic and alluring tango from its origins in the Rio de la Plata region in the late 19th century. Created from a fusion of cultural influences, the tango continued to develop over time, with different styles and in relationship to a variety of musical traditions. Forever Tango<\/em> features 14 dancers, an onstage vocalist and an 11-piece orchestra. The dances are performed to both traditional and original music, and were developed by Luis Brava who worked with each couple to highlight their individual style.<\/p>\n

Luis Bravo studied both guitar and cello as a child and attended the Municipal Conservatory of Music Manuel de Falla and the University of Buenos Aires. A member of the Argentine National Symphony, he performed with major symphonies in South America. Bravo received a special award from ACE, together with Ruben Blades, as the two most successful Latin artists on Broadway in 1998.\u00a0 In 2002 Bravo created Malambo, a panorama of Argentine music, song and dance that featured the gaucho dance tradition of malambo. A folkloric dance that originated in the 17th century among gauchos \u2013 cowboys \u2013 it was performed by men only and characterized by virtuoso footwork. While the two dances share some features in common, they represent a certain clash of cultures. Malambo representing the local folk traditions; while the tango revels in its urban and European influences.<\/p>\n
