Initiated and supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sport and the Israeli Music Institute, the festival is entering its 14th year, with Dr. Michael Wolpe concluding six years as artistic director.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cComposer of the Year,\u201d a new initiative of Dr. Wolpe and the Israeli Music Institute, will feature the works of a selected composer. Paul Ben Haim (1897 \u2013 1984) has been chosen as the first composer to be showcased, and three of his works will be performed in the course of the Israeli Music Celebration concerts.<\/p>\n<p>Opening and closing concerts will take place in the Jerusalem Theatre, opening with the IBA Symphony Orchestra and the Israeli Philarmonic Orchestra will close the festival. As in every year, the many generations and styles of Israeli composers will be represented in the five day festival of music.
