A gallery talk led by Yuval Saar with featured guests, lecturers and students of the program, will take place on October 6, 2011 at 18:00, entrance is free. The exhibition will remain open through October 15, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>About the exhibitors:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14921\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14921\" style=\"width: 595px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/wrinkles-small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14921\" title=\"wrinkles small\" src=\"http:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/wrinkles-small.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"595\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/wrinkles-small.jpg 595w, https:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/wrinkles-small-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 595px) 100vw, 595px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14921\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Noa Zilberman - Jewelry Wrinkles<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Noa Zilberman<\/strong> &#8211; \u201cJewelry Wrinkles\u201d &#8211; a series of pins was created each emphasizing a different area of the body where wrinkles will eventually show.\u00a0 She created a map of wrinkles on her face, which were filled and repaired using a gold wire, which led to a series of \u201cwrinkle masks\u201d: Jewelry for the skin of the face, neck, and neckline.\u00a0 This emphasis creates a focus on areas perceived as supposedly \u201cbroken\u201d over time and actually gives them a new and more compassionate meaning.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14924\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14924\" style=\"width: 568px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/daniela-silverstein-barefoot-shoe.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14924\" title=\"daniela silverstein barefoot shoe\" src=\"http:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/daniela-silverstein-barefoot-shoe.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"568\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/daniela-silverstein-barefoot-shoe.jpg 568w, https:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/daniela-silverstein-barefoot-shoe-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 568px) 100vw, 568px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14924\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Daniela Silverstein - Barefoot Shoe<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Daniella Silverstein<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cBarefoot Shoe\u201d &#8211; deals with questions of beauty and ugliness.\u00a0 Silberstein built an insole from pieces of skin, which minimally covers the foot.\u00a0\u00a0 The object highlights the toe bone, exposing the toes and revealing rough and warty skin. The insole emphasizes the \u201cblemished\u201d regions of the foot, but also gives them as aesthetic wholeness, and raises questions about the need of a shoe as an expression of fashion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lee Osheret<\/strong> &#8211; \u201cImprovisation\u201d \u2013 focusing on office rubber bands and following morphological and functional research, the artist developed a series of five flexible connectors, each of which is a new object, which allows all sorts of different improvisations.\u00a0 Lee created a project that by definition deals with the relationships between people and objects, with features that turn three-dimensional objects into platforms for improvisation and upgrading, so there is also a study that looks at improvised objects in the home and urban space.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14923\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14923\" style=\"width: 583px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/vadim-prokofiev-arachnophobia.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14923\" title=\"vadim prokofiev arachnophobia\" src=\"http:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/vadim-prokofiev-arachnophobia.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"583\" height=\"389\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/vadim-prokofiev-arachnophobia.jpg 583w, https:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/vadim-prokofiev-arachnophobia-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 583px) 100vw, 583px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14923\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Vadim Prokofiev - Arachnophobia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Vadim Prokofiev<\/strong> &#8211; \u201cArachnophobia \u2013 Coping with Spiders\u201d Utilizing a childhood memory of his, the artist uses it as a source for material design.\u00a0 At the age of 4, a spider latched on to him for several minutes without letting go.\u00a0 From this trauma, he created a \u201ckit to deal with memory\u201d, which includes a finger-long glove and a \u201cdiminished\u201d glass.\u00a0 The kit allows for safe observation of the menacing spider, as it pokes fun at the threat and offers a humorous way of dealing with anxiety.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Liran Elbaz<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cBreakdown Facility\u201d &#8211; focused on the existing external defects in the southern Tel Aviv neighborhood of Florentine \u2013 emphasized by what is missing &#8211; puddles of water over the cracked sidewalks, dirt being used to feed cats &#8211; and in fact turned these defects to something being \u201ctreated\u201d \u2013 the sidewalks were painted and the puddles were colored, the food collected in neat piles on decorated paper, in sensitive adjustments and small steps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tal Frenkel Alroy<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cFamily Table\u201d \u2013 gave a motif to a dining room table which was present-absent during her youth, as a daughter of her Holocaust survivor father.\u00a0 Through extensive research, she reveals the table\u2019s biographical components, as someone in which a sense of family did not exist, or as she puts it, \u201chow do we make a table empty of matter?\u00a0 As a result, she has created a project that includes paintings, photos, video and graffiti signatures which all investigate childhood through a therapeutic process that aims to repair what has been broken.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yevgeniya Zeitlin<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cAlias\u201d &#8211; uses the eternal conflict between the desire to integrate into Israeli society and the desire to preserve the world she left in Russia as source for her design.\u00a0\u00a0 The project deals with the life left behind, using visual images, which are linked to memories from different ages.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 One of the significant images is of \u201cBabushka\u201d dolls, which her mother worked with in her paintings and from which Yevgeniya needed to coat with the last layer of lacquer.\u00a0 Yevgeniya created a \u201cmobile coffee kit\u201d, which corresponds with the principles identified with the Babushka: dismantling, assembling, and containment.\u00a0 Coffee, which for Yevgeniya is one of the most prominent symbols of assimilation, along with the \u2018Babushka\u2019 object, constitutes a bridge between the atmosphere of \u201chere\u201d against the memory of \u201cthere.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Under Repair \u2013 a group exhibition featuring designs from seven Masters of Design graduates from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem opens tonight, September 22, 2011 at 19:00 at the Bezalel Gallery, 60 Salame Street, in Tel Aviv.
