Suzanne Dellal Centre in cooperation with the French Institute in Tel Aviv will present \u201cFrench Focus\u201d \u2013 a week of French Dance from December 12 \u2013 18, 2011. Reflecting the contemporary dance scene in France, the works of three choreographers will be performed for the first time in Israel:\u00a0 Brahim Bouchelaghem, Yuval Pick and Pierre Rigal.<\/p>\n

Hip hop artist Brahim Bouchelaghem and the Zahrbat Company will present his latest work Dava\u00ef Dava\u00ef<\/em>. Bouchelaghem, who did not study dance formally, was discovered by Farid Berki and then went on to perform with the Accrorap Dance Company led by Kader Attou (Tel Aviv Dance 2010). The name of this new work means \u201cforward, forward.\u201d Performed by an ensemble of nine French and Russian dancers (the Russian Hip Hop group Top 9), Dava\u00ef Dava\u00ef<\/em> employs the language of Hip Hop and materials from the lives of the dancers to express emotion, experience and memory. Dava\u00ef Dava\u00ef<\/em> will be performed on December 12, 2011 at 21:00, Suzanne Dellal Centre, Tel Aviv.

Israeli-French choreographer Yuval Pick will present Score<\/em>. Pick was appointed by France\u2019s Minister of Culture as director of the Centre Choregraphique National de Rillieux-la-Pape (near Lyon). Pick studied dance at Bat Dor and was a member of the Batsheva Dance Company, where he performed works by Ohad Naharin, William Forsythe and Jiri Kylian, before continuing his career in Europe, joining the Opera Ballet of Lyon in 1999 and founding his own dance company The Guests in 2001. Score<\/em> will be performed December 14 & 15, 2011 at 21:00, Suzanne Dellal Centre, Tel Aviv.

Erection - Pierre Rigal<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Choreographer Pierre Rigal will perform his solo work Erection<\/em>, which integrates sound and visual effects with the movement. Rigal began his career in sports, specializing in 400m and hurdles, and then acquiring degrees in film and economics before turning to dance, joining the dance company of choreographer Gilles Jobin in 2002. Rigal founded his own dance company Compagnie Derni\u00e8re Minute in 2003, Erection<\/em> is one of Rigal\u2019s first pieces, produced with the director Aur\u00e9lien Bory. Erection will be performed on December 18, 2011 at 21:00, Suzanne Dellal Centre, Tel Aviv.<\/p>\n
