Yaffa Yarkoni<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Tel Aviv \u2013Yafo Municipality Department of Performances in collaboration with IUPA \u2013 Israeli Union of Performing Artists, Eshkolot and the Cameri Theatre, will present a tribute in memory of Yaffa Yarkoni (1925 – 2012): \u201cHa’amini Yom Yavo – Believe, the Day Will Come\u201d on Friday, February 24, 2012 at 11:30 at the Cameri Theatre.<\/p>\n

David Daor, Ahinoam Nini, Liraz Cherhi, Dikla, Tzvika Pik, Shlomit Aharon, Shula Chen, Roni Daloumi, Izhar Cohen, Meir Swissa, Ishai Swissa, Miki Kam, Israel Gurion, Rama Messinger, Heni Nahmias, Israel Itzhaky, Shai Gabso, Edna Goren, Dorit Reuveni and Anton Lapidus are among the artists who will perform in the festive event hosted by Natan Datner.<\/p>\n

Born Yaffa Abramov in 1925, Israel Prize recipient Yaffa Yarkoni began singing as a young girl in her mother\u2019s caf\u00e9 in the 1940s. During her military service she joined an IDF ensemble affiliated with the Givati Brigade. Bab el-Wad, a song she sang during Israel\u2019s War of Independence, became a signature song for Yarkoni, and of the era, commemorating those who were killed while driving convoys to Jerusalem. Yarkoni\u2019s well-known songs will be performed at the tribute event – \u201cHa’amini Yom Yavo,\u201d “Al Na Tomar Li Shalom,” \u201cKol Hayonim,\u201d \u201cHaamini Yom Yavo\u201d and many more.
