Sunday, March 25, 2012, the Bennewitz Quartet<\/strong><\/a> from the Czech Republic will perform in Israel for the first time, with works by two Czech composers at the heart of the program. The four young musicians came together in 1998 at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and named themselves after the renowned Czech violinist Antonin Bennewitz (1833-1926). Presenting new perspectives on well known works, their emphasis on close cooperation within the quartet is expressed in their statement: \u201cPlaying in a quartet means communication for us. It is a challenge to join our various views in order to gain an original result. It is the only way to originate music of many colourful and sonic changes which keep it ever lively and fresh.\u201d The concert will take place at the Einav Cultural Center at 20:30.<\/p>\n

On Friday, March 30, 2012, the Carmel Quartet<\/strong><\/a> will perform at Tzavta, in a concert accompanied by a discussion of the way music responds to its environment, exploring the differences between public and private music with two works by Mozart: one public \u2013 a piano concerto, the other private \u2013 dedicated to his colleague Hayden. The concert will take place at 11:30.
