In the past few years, yoga has grown from an esoteric hobby to one of the hottest trends in the country, with hundreds of thousands of self-proclaimed \u201cyogis\u201d identifying themselves with this ancient Indian way of life.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, May 12th, hundreds of yoga bums along with the nation\u2019s top yoga instructors are set to participate in this year\u2019s 33rd Yoga Convention for the first time in Tel Aviv. The event will take place at the Bikorei HaItim Center (6 Heftman St), as part of the \u201cCelebrating India in Israel<\/a>\u201d events.<\/p>\n

Israel\u2019s top instructors will be holding various workshops and giving lectures about the diversity of yoga methods. Participators are encouraged to learn about the different ideologies behind each specific practice, and get a chance to meet some of the country\u2019s most influential yoga teachers.<\/p>\n

Workshops are intended for advanced instructors and practicers, and will be held alongside open lessons suitable for yogis of all levels. More specific classes will be held for women, children, and the elderly, along with classes gearing towards the world\u2019s most prominent yoga practices today. The classic Ashtanga, Vinyasa, and Shadow\u00a0 yoga will also be available in open classes.<\/p>\n

The convention will also be holding a panel called \u201cThe Autobiography of the Yogi\u201d, in which three seasoned Israeli yoga instructors –\u00a0 Priah Hart, Rachel Zolberg and Rina Twil \u2013 will tell their tales about how yoga changed and has become a part of their lives. If you feel like an extended break, there will also be a discussion room where participators can take part in lectures by two yogis who have come from India to talk about contemporary yogic practice and ideology.<\/p>\n
