Yehoshua\u2019s play <em>Will The Two Walk Together<\/em>, a co-production of the Cameri and Herzliya Theatres, directed by Oded Kotler. Yehoshua\u2019s play is inspired by his research into secret meetings between the two men that took place in London in 1934, in an attempt to see if the two rival movements could find a way to work together.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_19776\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19776\" style=\"width: 589px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_9705small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19776\" title=\"IMG_9705small\" src=\"http:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_9705small.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"589\" height=\"457\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_9705small.jpg 589w, https:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/IMG_9705small-300x232.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 589px) 100vw, 589px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-19776\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">David Ben Gurion (Rami Baruch) fixes an omelet for Ze&#39;ev Jabotinsky (Gil Frank)\/Photo: Elizur Reuveni<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>When the two men meet in a hotel room in London, what begins as a clash between two ideologies becomes a meeting between two men. Rami Baruch as Ben Gurion and Gil Frank as Jabotinsky create vivid portraits of the two leaders. Baruch embodied the character entirely, taking on the pragmatic, direct manner and body language of the Labor Zionist leader and future Prime Minister of Israel. It felt as though I were seeing the man himself onstage. Frank conveyed the poetic aspect of Jabotinsky, the dashing intellectual capable of mesmerizing his listeners, reciting Lermontov in Russian and Jabotinsky\u2019s translation of Edgar Allan Poe\u2019s <em>The Raven<\/em> in Hebrew.<\/p>\n<p>Revealing the human and the individual aspects of two mythological figures, Oded Kotler brings a little known chapter in Israeli history to life with humor and sensitivity.
