The company has performed to enthusiastic audiences in Israel and on this tour will be presenting two separate programs, each program closing with Alvin Ailey\u2019s signature work: <em>Revelations<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1958 by Alvin Ailey, the company\u2019s current Artistic Director is Robert Battle, who has choreographed several works for the company, including <em>Takademe<\/em>, <em>The Hunt<\/em>,<em> In\/Side<\/em> and <em>Unfold<\/em>, which will be presented on the Israeli tour.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Program One:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Arden Court<\/strong><\/em> (1981) by Paul Taylor &#8211; set to baroque music by William Boyce, this is the first work by Taylor to be performed by the company.<br \/>\n<strong><em>Home<\/em> <\/strong>by Rennie Harris \u2013 Hip Hop, inspired by the personal stories of people living with HIV, with a gospel house music score by Dennis Ferrer and Raphael Xavier.<br \/>\n<object width=\"560\" height=\"315\" classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/Pz_xUefBLW8?version=3&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0\" \/><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><embed width=\"560\" height=\"315\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/Pz_xUefBLW8?version=3&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0\" allowFullScreen=\"true\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Revelations<\/strong><\/em> by Alvin Ailey (1960) &#8211; this uplifting work has become an anthemic work for the company, performed time and again throughout the world. I first saw it as a child and each time I see it, it is a revelation, a joyous celebration of spirit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Two<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Memoria<\/em><\/strong> by Alvin Ailey (1979) \u2013 music by Keith Jarrett, a work the choreographer dedicated to \u201cto the joy\u2026the beauty\u2026the creativity\u2026and the wild spirit of my friend\u201d the late Joyce Tisler.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Takademe<\/em><\/strong> by Robert Battle (1999) \u2013 music by Sheila Chandra, a humorous deconstruction of Indian Kathak dance rhythms.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The Hunt<\/strong><\/em> by Robert Battle \u2013 percussion soundtrack by Les Tambours du Bronx.\u00a0 An athletic work for six male dancers, exploring the relationship between modern sports and the rites of the gladiators.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Revelations<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jerusalem Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Streams<\/em><\/strong> by Alvin Ailey (1970) \u2013 a percussion score by Miloslav Kabelac. This was the first full length, non-narrative dance work choreographed by Alvin Ailey, an abstract exploration of bodies in space.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>In\/Side<\/strong><\/em> by Robert Battle (2009) \u2013 a solo for a male dancer, exploring inner struggles, with music by Dimitri Tiomkin; words by Ned Washington; sung by Nina Simone.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Unfold<\/em><\/strong> by Robert Battle (2005) \u2013 music by Gustave Charpentier, sung by Leontyne Price.
