The 2nd International Photography Festival will take place from October 2 – 8, 2012 at Jaffa Port, featuring the works of Israeli and international photographers. The festival invites visitors to take a panoramic and in-depth look at photography and provides a platform for a diverse spectrum of works. Entrance is free for some exhibitions, for others, there is a 39 NIS entrance fee with family tickets (2 adults + 3 children) available for 78 NIS. Tickets may be purchased online<\/a>\u00a0 or call: *8780. The full daily schedule of gallery talks, tours and film screenings is available in English on the festival website.<\/p>\n

Highlights include:<\/p>\n

French photographer Antoine D’Agata<\/strong> will give a gallery talk at the exhibition of his work on October 2nd (the time listed as 10:00 in one place and 11:00 in another, message the facebook page<\/a> to check for updates ). D’Agata’s photographs deal with controversial subject matter – sex, addictions, drugs and the darker side of existence.<\/p>\n

Yoni Hamenahem<\/strong> – 40 years of Israeli Cinema Through Still Photography, curated by Katriel Schory in cooperation with the Israeli Film Fund.
\nImages of Rock from the 60s and 70s<\/p>\n

An exhibition of photographs curated by 14 leading Israeli photographers, including Eldad Rafaeli, Eyal Landesman, Avi Ganor, Boaz Arad and more.<\/p>\n

The festival will host the SIP (Shpilman Institute for Photography) in Hangar 2, with several events and exhibits, including: What Really Went On, an exhibition by Barbara Probst<\/strong>, whose work questions photography’s manipulation of perception, using several cameras and tripods to create multiple views of an image; a new work of video art by Rami Maymon<\/strong> focusing on the image of artist (and mythological lover of Picasso) Dora Maar; Avi Ganor<\/strong> will launch his book of photographs Reality Trauma, published by The SIP; and the film LUMA – Modern Photography in the First Half of the Twentieth Century<\/strong>, will be screened at the entrance to Hangar 2, offering a look at the exhibition currently on display at The SIP, 27 Shocken Street, Tel Aviv.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
