The evening dedicated to Yiddish author and Nobel Laureate Bashevis Singer will be the third event in the series, directed by Avi Gibson-Barel and moderated by Sahara Blau, with guests author Alona Kimhi and writer\/translator Roy Chen.<\/p>\n<p>Issues to be discussed include: immigration, the conflict between tradition and modernity, the desire to assimilate vs. the desire to preserve the community identity, writing in a &#8216;forgotten language&#8217; and the relevance of Bashevis Singer&#8217;s works in our own time.<\/p>\n<p>Select scenes from the works of Bashevis Singer will be staged, as well as scenes from Alona Kimhi&#8217;s novel Viktor and Masha.
