Authorship and signature, key issues in Western art, will be discussed by Nicola Trezzi in Fictitious Signatures – a Parallel History of Western Authorship. The talk will take place on Tuesday, August 30, 2013 at 19:00 at Artport, 55 Ben Zvi Blvd, Tel Aviv and will be presented in English. Entrance is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

The talk will open with a discussion of Paul S\u00e9rusier\u2019s painting L\u2019Aven au Bois d\u2019Amour (1988) \u2013 known as “The Talisman,” a work which has been regarded as having a galvanizing effect on the Post-Impressionist avant-garde movement Les Nabis, which included Pierre Bonnard, Maurice Denis, Edouard Vouillard and others. The Talisman will provide the starting point from which Trezzi will present a series of individuals and artworks that redefine the traditional notion of authorship and signature in Western society. This lecture comprises the concluding class of “Fontaine, school of,” Lucie Fontaine’s summer school conceived for Artport. While the course was limited to a small group of artists and curators, the final lecture, conducted by Trezzi, is open to the public.<\/p>\n

Trezzi, an employee of Lucie Fontaine, is\u00a0 the US editor of Flash Art International<\/em> and part of the editorial teams of its sister publications Flash Art Italia<\/em>, Flash Art CZ&SK<\/em> and Flash Art HU<\/em>. He is also the curator and editor of the Prague Biennale Foundation, has lectured at the Yale School of Art, Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, and his writings appeared in Monopol<\/em>, Biweekly, The Room<\/em> and White Fungus<\/em> as well as in exhibition catalogues.<\/p>\n
