A bit breathless, I made my way through the crowds of people last Saturday night at the Barby for the launch of Sun Tailor\u2019s new album: This Light<\/strong><\/a>. There was no way around it, I was either going to have to miss the show altogether or come late, so I tried to get there as fast as I could.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not here for beauty,\u201d Sun Tailor\u2019s words pierced the darkness, and I was immersed in the mysterious atmosphere of the song Honorable Man. Sun Tailor creates a strong emotional presence with his songs, and with him at the Barby was his talented ensemble – Udi Naor – drums & percussion; Daniel Sapir – bass; Omri Barel – lap steel, electric guitar; Jackie Fay – cello, glockenspiel – enriched by the presence of Keren Tannenbaum on violin.<\/p>\n

Moving into the poignant Fay from his first album Like the Tide, he then welcomed Maya Johanna of the lovely voice and the spirits rose into the lively Born to Become<\/em>. The bright On Our Way<\/em> (also from the first album) shone even brighter as the harmony between these two performers is a real pleasure to hear.<\/p>\n

This Light<\/em>, the title song, is beautiful. Its appeal is simple and direct, and it sounds wonderful when everyone joins in on the chorus, as they did at the concert: \u201cthis light won\u2019t fade, this light won\u2019t fade for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sun Tailor\u2019s songs are intimate and personal, and even though he was singing for a big crowd at the Barby, he found a way to come a little closer. For I Know What You Want<\/em>, a love song with a lilting rhythm, he walked down off the stage and sang solo, surrounded by his fans.<\/p>\n
