The Jasmin Vardimon Company comes to Israel for the first time, March 2 \u2013 7, with performances at the Herzliya Performing Arts Center, Haifa Auditorium and Jerusalem Theatre. Celebrating 10 years to the company, they will perform \u201cYesterday\u201d \u2013 an evening composed of selections from significant works such as Justitia, Park, Lullaby, T\u00eate, Lurelurelure and Ticklish from the company\u2019s repertoire, interwoven with new choreography, video and animation.<\/p>\n
The evening promises to be visually exciting, with choreography that relates physical theatre to dance and technology. Guy Bar-Amotz, Vardimon\u2019s life and work partner, is a visual artist who has collaborated with the company for the past six years, creating installation art and video. Bar-Amotz\u2019s work has been shown internationally, in venues such as the Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam, Ikon Gallery Birmingham, Tate Britain and the Sidney Biennale.<\/p>\n
Born in Israel, Vardimon was a dancer in the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company before moving to London in 1997. Currently an Associate Artist at Sadler\u2019s Wells, she was previously an Associate Artist at The Place in 1998 and a Yorkshire Dance Partner from 1999\u20132005. Vardimon is the recipient of numerous awards including: the prestigious Jerwood Choreography Award (2000); the Jerwood Foundation\u2019s \u2018Changing Stages\u2019 Award (2004); a nomination for \u2018Best Female Artist\u2019 at Critics\u2019 Circle National Dance Awards (2003); The London Arts Board \u2018New Choreographers\u2019 Award (1998); The Colette Littman Scholarship Award (1997); The Havatzeleth Foundation Scholarship (1997 & 1995); the British Council\u2019s \u2018On the Way to London\u2019 Choreography Prize for Israeli choreographer (1995); and the America-Israel Foundation Choreography Scholarship (1989 & 1991).<\/p>\n
