Love is in the air as the 13th French Film Festival opens with Un plus Une<\/em>, the latest film of Claude Lelouch. The festival will take place from March 19 – April 7, 2016, in the cinematheques of Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem, Holon, Herzliya and Sderot, as well as the Cultural Center in Savion and Ashdod. The famous French director with his long time collaborator, composer Francis Lai, inscribed the melody of love in the collective cultural memory with the theme song to A Man and A Woman<\/a> in 1966. Romance and complications abound in his latest film set in India, starring Jean Dujardin and Elsa Zylberstein. Claude Lelouch will arrive in Israel for the opening of the festival, along with the film’s leading love interest, actor Elsa Zylberstein.<\/p>\n

Chocolat<\/em>, the latest film by Roschdy Zem, will be the closing film of the festival, with the director arriving for the film’s premiere screening in Israel. The drama is based on the life of Cuban-born Rafael Padilla, who escaped slavery to become a comedy performer in late 19th century France. Omar Sy (The Untouchables<\/em>) portrays Padilla, with James Thi\u00e9rr\u00e9e as the white man with whom he forms a comedy duo.<\/p>\n

The French Film Festival is produced by the French Institute in Israel and Eden Cinema, sponsored by Unifrance Films, the Performance Department of the Tel Aviv Municipality and the Israeli Foreign Ministry, as well as Air France, Seyman and Peugot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
