This cohort of men will include 20 Israeli dancers, to be selected in upcoming auditions. The work is known to many due to its dramatic presence as the last scene in Claude Lelouch&#8217;s musical epic film <em>Les uns et les autres <\/em>(1981, distributed in the US under the title\u00a0<em>Bol\u00e9ro<\/em>), yet the dance premiered\u00a0in 1961. B\u00e9jart initially created the work\u00a0for Yugoslav ballerina Duska Sifnios, who danced solo on a large table top, surrounded by seated men who then began to dance as the music rose. B\u00e9jart&#8217;s <em>Bol\u00e9ro<\/em> received a new interpretation in 1979, when dancer Jorge Donn performed the solo, as he did in the Lelouch film version. There will be two performances of Bol\u00e9ro in Israel, on one evening the solo will be performed by a female dancer, and on the other by a male dancer.<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zKTwvo8gx68?rel=0&amp;controls=0&amp;showinfo=0\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nProgram A will also feature:<\/p>\n<p><em>Piaf<\/em> &#8211; featuring the songs of Edith Piaf, one of the figures \u2013 along with Shakespeare, Moli\u00e8re, Baudelaire, Mozart and others, who fascinated B\u00e9jart. Choreography: Maurice B\u00e9jart; costumes: Walid Aouni. The dance premiered in Tokyo, 1988.<\/p>\n<p><em>Bhakti<\/em> \u2013 set to traditional Indian music. &#8220;Through love, the worshiper identifies with the divinity, and, every time, he relives the legend of his God who is himself one of the faces of reality and unnamed.&#8221; (from the B\u00e9jart Ballet Lausanne program notes). The dance premiered at the 1968 Avignon Festival.<\/p>\n<p><em>Anima Blues<\/em> \u2013 Gil Roman: &#8220;I imagined this ballet as a long blues ballad inspired by the work of Swiss psychiatrist and essayist, Carl Gustav Jung: &#8216;Each man has a woman within him, and this feminine element is what I call the Anima.&#8217; One of my dancers, Kateryna Shakina, gave me the inspiration of Audrey Hepburn&#8217;s silhouette, and her voice, woven to Thierry Hochst\u00e4tter&#8217;s and J. B. Meier&#8217;s original score, guided me throughout this project.&#8221; Choreography: Gil Roman; Music: Thierry Hochst\u00e4tter and J.B. Meier; Costumes: Henri Davila. In 1972 he received the Dance Magazine Award, recognizing his &#8220;magnetic star quality and his total dedication to B\u00e9jart.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>B\u00e9jart Ballet Lausanne was founded by choreographer Maurice B\u00e9jart (1927 \u2013 2007) in 1987.
