Music &amp; more! Levontin 7 will continue the wild and wonderful tradition of its 3-day music marathon, a tribute to Thelonius Monk, and performances by international and Israeli bands.<\/p>\n<p>Levontin 7, one of my favorite Tel Aviv venues, was founded in 2006 by musicians Asif Tsahar, Daniel Sarid and Ilan Volkov and they have been hosting two shows a night ever since! Over the years I&#8217;ve seen such a diverse selection of shows \u2013 rock, indie, funk, electronic, folk, jazz, and music that defies definition\u2026 as well as diverse audiences of all ages and styles.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the full schedule for celebrations:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, July 20<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>20:00 <strong>Change of Heart<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Tal Gamliel Trio<\/strong> with American saxophonist<strong> Dayna Stephens<\/strong>. Bass player\/composer Tal Gamliel has been leading his trio since 2014, his collaboration with Dayna Stephens began at the Tel Aviv Jazz Festival. Performing: Dayna Stephens, Tal Gamliel, Hay Bar David, Amir Bar Akiva. Doors open at 20:00, show starts at 20:30. Tickets are 80 NIS at the door\/70 NIS in advance\/60 NIS student-soldier discount.<\/p>\n<p>22:30 <strong>Listener<\/strong> (US), with special guests <strong>Fastest Leap<\/strong> &amp; <strong>Bonjour Machines<\/strong>. Indie-rock band performing their signature style of &#8220;Talk Music&#8221; for the first time in Israel! Founded in 2002 as a solo project by Dan Smith, the band evolved into: Smith on vocals and bass, Kris Rochelle on drums, and Jon Terrey on guitar. Doors open at 22:30, show at 23:00. Tickets are 40 NIS.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday, July 22<sup>nd<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ken Vandermark Quartet<\/strong> \u2013 Avant garde jazz musician, composer, saxophonist and clarinetist, Ken Vandermark has made his mark on the Chicago jazz scene since the 1990s, and was the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship in 1999. He&#8217;s composed music for film, theatre, opera and dance. Ganelin immigrated to Israel in 1987.<\/p>\n<p>Doors open at 19:30, show starts at 20:00.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are 60 NIS\/50 NIS in advance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thelonius Monk \u2013 100<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year marks the 100<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary of jazz great Thelonius Monk&#8217;s birth! The play &#8220;Kav Haim&#8221; is a theatrical expression of the experiences of the asylum seekers and the central issues of their lives. A joint project of Liat Shabtai, Rotem Goldenberg and Awat Ashbar.<\/p>\n<p>Doors open at 15:00.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are 30 NIS.<\/p>\n<p>Screening of <strong>Maysaloun Hamoud<\/strong>&#8216;s film <strong>In Between<\/strong>, followed by a discussion with the director.
