{"id":37723,"date":"2017-10-09T02:40:24","date_gmt":"2017-10-09T09:40:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/?p=37723"},"modified":"2017-10-09T10:44:12","modified_gmt":"2017-10-09T17:44:12","slug":"tmuna-international-festival-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/?p=37723","title":{"rendered":"Tmuna International Festival 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Tmuna International Festival will take place from October 23 \u2013 November 7, 2017. 16 days of theatre, performance, music, dance, and visual arts, with &#8220;Encounters&#8221; as the theme for this year&#8217;s festival.<\/p>\n<p>In keeping with the theme, the festival will feature, in addition to Israeli premieres, several &#8220;encounters&#8221; with international artists \u2013 hosting productions from Poland, Germany, and Austria, as well as collaborative projects: Israel-Spain, Israel-Switzerland and Israel-Germany. Read more about the concert <a href=\"http:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/?p=37695\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Just in Time<\/strong> is an interactive dance performance created from materials collected by <strong>Thomas Plischke<\/strong> and <strong>Kattrin Deufert<\/strong> \u2013 from 2016 \u2013 2018 they are collecting letters from people in Berlin, New York and Tel Aviv writing their feelings, thoughts, and relationship to dance, and describing a movement they like. These letters form the raw material for the choreography. There will be two performances: on the first evening <strong>Roni Katz<\/strong> and <strong>Omer Krieger<\/strong> will present their interpretations, on the second evening, the Tel Aviv letter writers will be present for a celebration of dance. Presented by <strong>Soulela<\/strong>, the San Francisco based Israeli duo of <strong>Elika Feldman<\/strong> and <strong>Adam Miclaf<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Israeli premieres at the festival:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Suspicious incident<\/strong>\u2013 a black comedy by Noam Gil, directed by Yigal Zaks, about a murder in one of the settlements which leads to a comic-absurd chain of events;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Mysterious Disappearance of M<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>an urban-detective story<\/strong>, by <strong>Danielle Cohen<\/strong> <strong>Levi<\/strong>, who, through a journey motivated by her desire to be a detective, creates a theatrical entity both puzzling and surreal, and evokes a forgotten Israeli reality;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elifelet<\/strong>, a performance by <strong>Il-Il Lev Canaan<\/strong> which deals with the rituals of mourning that surround us from birth and have become an integral part of our DNA.<\/p>\n<figure Lamm<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The festival will also inaugurate a new series of dance performances hosting artists in other disciplines. <strong>Merav Dagan<\/strong> and <strong>Stav Marin<\/strong>, whose work <strong>Come Closer<\/strong> premiered in Curtain Up 2016, will host Faye Shapiro, a musician with her own unique language, which will be combined in their creation. On Come Closer: a mesmerizing rapid-fire succession of allusive movement and gesture, meticulous, precise and wildly entertaining. It&#8217;s a challenge to the senses to meet the pace of this work&#8217;s imagery, a kinetic reflection on the mythology of woman, generating a multitude of associations.
