The Israeli Harp Festival will take place from December 18 \u2013 20, 2017. A joint project of the Israeli Harp Society and the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, the festival is named for musicologist Michael Zmora-Cohen. Now in its third edition, the festival and competition will be held for the first time in Givat Ram, at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. The festival committee: Gittit Boazson, Suneita Staneslow, and Julia Rovinsky.<\/p>\n

The competition will begin on Monday, December 18th<\/sup> at 11:00, in the first category, for harpists under 18. The competition for harpists over 18 will begin at 14:00. All the participants are Israeli musicians, and admission is free. The opening concert, in honor of musicologist Michal Zmora-Cohen, who was the Director of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and a member of the Israeli Harp Society, will take place at 20:00. The competition winners will be announced at the concert. Yael Beeri, Inbar Vernia, and Lior Uziel, competition winners from past years will be performing in the concert with the Academy’s orchestra. The program will include works by Mozart, Ravel, Rodrigo and others. Tickets are 60 NIS.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, December 19th<\/sup> at 17:30, there will be a concert of teachers and students, open to the public, admission is free. At 20:00, there will be a concert reflecting the many facets of the harp, with Irish, Jewish, and Paraguayan compositions, as well as improvisation. Tickets are 60 NIS.<\/p>\n

The festival will feature a premiere performance, a show for the whole family, with actor Eli Gorenstein and harpists Iris Eyal, Gittit Boazson, Sunita Staneslow, Julia Rovinsky, and Sari Shemesh Shabtai. The performance will take place on Wednesday, December 20th<\/sup> at 17:30, tickets are 40 NIS.<\/p>\n

The closing concert will take place on December 20th<\/sup> at 20:00, in cooperation with the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and the Multi-Disciplinary Faculty Jerusalem. Harpists Iris Eyal, Gittit Boazson, and Sunita Staneslow will perform with the Andalusian Orchestra and dancers from the Dance Department of the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. The program will include arrangements of Israeli songs, Piyut, and improvisation for harp. Tickets are 60 NIS.<\/p>\n
