Polish director Krzysztof Warlikowski\u2019s provocative production of Hanoch Levin\u2019s play \u201cKrum\u201d will be performed by the TR Warszawa at the Cameri Theatre in Tel Aviv on April 18th and 19th, one of 16 international productions participating in the year-long international theatre festival celebrating Tel Aviv\u2019s centennial.
\n\u201cKrum\u201d premiered in 1975 at the Haifa Theatre, directed by Hanoch Levin and starring Ilan Toran. Levin\u2019s laconically humorous story of the return of the prodigal son who has learned and achieved nothing has been staged frequently both in Israel and abroad, including a production at the Cameri directed by Michael Gurevtich in 2000.
\nWarlikowski received the 2008 Obie Award for his direction of \u201cKrum\u201d, which breaks out of the boundaries of the stage in different dimensions, including both video projections and interaction with the audience. Born in 1962, Warlikowski has directed over 30 plays, in Poland and other countries, ranging from Shakespeare to Tony Kushner\u2019s \u201cAngels in America\u201d. In Israel he has directed Kafka\u2019s \u201cThe Trial\u201d at Beit Zvi and \u201cHamlet\u201d at the Beer Sheva Theatre.
\nAffiliated with the TR Warszawa Theatre from 1999 to 2007, he is currently Director of the NOWY Theatre in Warsaw. Costumes and set design are by Malgorzata Szczesniak and musical score by Pawl Mykietyn, both artists who have worked with Warlikowski for many years.\u00a0 Jacek Poniedzialek, who is also performing, translated the play into Polish.
\nThe play will be performed in Polish with Hebrew superscripts.
