The Russian Ballet returns to Israel with two classic ballets: The Nutcracker<\/em> and Swan Lake<\/em>. Performances will take place from April 20 \u2013 24, 2018 in Tel Aviv, Haifa and Beer Sheva.<\/p>\n

Swan Lake<\/em> and The Nutcracker<\/em> are tales of magical transformation and love, that are among the most beloved ballets, performed worldwide. Composed by P.S. Tchaikovsky, Swan Lake<\/em> premiered in 1877, and is one of the most beautiful ballet scores.<\/p>\n

The company will be performing The Nutcracker f<\/em>or the first time in Israel. The Nutcracker<\/em>, which premiered in 1892, is one of the most inviting and enticing for all ages. The libretto for The Nutcracker<\/em> is based on a tale by E.T.A. Hoffman, via an adaptation by Alexandre Dumas p\u00e8re. In the stories the daughter of the family, and main protagonist, is named Marie, and Clara is her doll’s name; in most American versions of the ballet, the girl’s name is Clara. The Nutcracker<\/em> is a wonderful ballet for the whole family, with toys and sweets dancing into life, what is perhaps every child’s fantasy. The score was composed by Tchaikovsky in close collaboration with choreographer Marius Petipa. Swan Lake<\/em> has a darker theme of love and betrayal, exploring issues of duality; and the choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, has a timeless grace that captivates the imagination.<\/p>\n

The Russian Ballet Theatre was established in 1990 in St. Petersburg by a family of professional soloists and ballet dancers from the renowned Mariinsky Theater. The company preserves the spirit and tradition of Mariinsky’s dance. After many years of creative work, a particularly refined choreography has been created, known as the “Petersburg style”. This style is well felt in all the Russian Ballet Theatre performances. The performances of The Nutcracker and Swan Lake not only adhere to the refined and precise technique of classical ballet but recreate the spirit and feel of the original performances.<\/p>\n
