Performances will take place at the Israeli Opera \u2013 Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center from January 1 \u2013 3, 2020, at the Haifa Auditorium on January 4<sup>th<\/sup> and at the Jerusalem Theatre on January 5<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Aterballeto returns to Israel with the program: <em>&#8220;14:20&#8221;<\/em> by Jir\u030c\u00ed Kyli\u00e1n, Hofesh Shechter&#8217;s <em>Wolf<\/em>, and Andonis Foniadakis&#8217; <em>Antitesi<\/em>. Aterballetto is a contemporary dance company whose dancers are selected for their versatility and ability to perform a variety of dance styles. Based in Reggio Emilia, the company was founded in 1977 as Compagnia di Balletto dei Teatri dell\u2019Emilia \u2013 Romagna under the artistic direction of Vittorio Biagi, and since 1979 under the artistic direction of Amedeo Amodio, the name was changed to Aterballetto. Throughout its history, the company has collaborated with leading Italian and international choreographers, including: Mauro Bigonzetti, Michele Di Stefano, Andonis Foniadakis, William Forsythe, Johan Inger, Ji\u0159\u00ed Kyli\u00e1n, Cristiana Morganti, Ji\u0159\u00ed Pokorny, Cristina Rizzo, Hofesh Shechter and Giuseppe Spota. Gigi Christoforetti has been the company&#8217;s managing director since 2017, assisted by the company director Sveva Berti.<\/p>\n<p>Jir\u030c\u00ed Kyli\u00e1n&#8217;s <strong><em>&#8220;14&#8217;20&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> is a duet which choreographer extracted from his longer piece &#8220;27&#8217;52&#8221;, its title refers to the work&#8217;s duration. Kyli\u00e1n on his work: &#8220;Our life seems to be determined by time \u2013 But \u201ctime\u201d is a very abstract term! We do not know what time is. We have made machines which measure time more accurately than ever before. This is surely very important, but many philosophers tell us, that there is no such thing as \u201ctime\u201d \u2013 They teach us that \u201ctime\u201d is only an invention of human beings! All this is possible, but one thing us sure:\u00a0our time is determined by two minuscule moments. The moment in which we are born and the moment in which we die. The work I made is not only about \u201ctime\u201d. It is also about \u201cspeed\u201d, about \u201clove\u201d and about \u201caging\u201d. In fact,\u00a0it is all very simple but also incredibly complicated and for sure totally inexplicable!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VCs_weW_slU\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Hofesh Shechter, whose <em>Grand Finale<\/em> was recently performed at the Israeli Opera (read the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.midnighteast.com\/mag\/?p=51340\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Midnight East review here<\/a>), is one of the leading choreographers on the contemporary dance scene. The Aterballetto company will perform Shechter&#8217;s <strong><em>Wolf<\/em><\/strong>, a piece on which he has stated: &#8220;Dance is like a dream; when you wake up you can\u2019t explain how and why certain thoughts and things occurred, and why they occurred in that precise manner\u201d. Wolf is an older piece which Shechter recreated for 16 Aterballetto dancers, and includes original music by the choreographer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bqlYVzTKjms\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Antitesi<\/strong> <\/em>by Andonis Foniadakis is set to music that ranges from the Baroque to the contemporary, including composers: Giovan Battista Pergolesi, Fausto Romitelli, Domenico Scarlatti, Giacinto Scelsi, and Giuseppe Tartini.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/V6RMFvJeZik\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nPerformances will take place:<\/p>\n<p>January 1 \u2013 3, 2020 at the Israeli Opera-Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center.
