The evening will be accompanied by a musical performance with Neomi Hashmonai (vocals and piano) and Neta Ram (bass).<\/p>\n<p>Under the heading \u201cCracks of Light\u201d the tribute will look at the work of Ronit Elkabetz through the tension she creates between women\u2019s socially silenced identity and the screen, which gives her freedom and a voice. Actor, screenwriter, and director, Elkabetz was born in Beersheva to a Moroccan Jewish family. She transformed the silences and boundaries that were forced on her into raw material for creative work. In the trilogy of films co-created with her brother Shlomi Elkabetz &#8211; To Take a Wife (2004), Shiva (2008), Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem (2014) \u2013 she exposed the reality of women trapped in social, legal, and family norms, setting at the heart of these films the character of Viviane Amsalem, a woman who insists on making her voice heard.<\/p>\n<p>Selections from Elkabetz\u2019s writing for film will be read as a literary text, open to interpretation, shedding light on the linguistic aspects, imagery, and visions that make her work vivid, moving and relevant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHeroes of Culture\u201d is a series dedicated to Israeli creators who left an indelible mark on Israeli culture.
