The Cameri Theatre opened the new season with a family party on Friday, October 8, 2010, awarding prizes to outstanding actors and employees and scholarships to young actors.\u00a0There were smiles,\u00a0hugs\u00a0and kisses all around as Rivka Michaeli, matriarch of the Cameri play \u201cA Warm Family\u201d presided over the festivities, and Yigal Weinstein, Chairman of the Board of Directors greeted the company.<\/p>\n

Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai presented The Tel Aviv \u2013 Yaffo Mayor\u2019s Prize in memory of Avraham Ben Yosef (one of the theatre\u2019s founding actors) was awarded to:<\/p>\n

Shlomo Baraba<\/strong>, for his role as Azdak, and Netta Gerty<\/strong> for her role as Grushe in the Caucasian Chalk Circle. Baraba is currently in New York with members of the Cameri participating in a benefit performance for the Lior Fund that will take place this afternoon, October 10th, at the B. B. King Blues Club on 42nd Street. Gerty read a message from Baraba, in which he gave his prize to the young actor Shlomi Avraham<\/strong>, who plays the doctor.<\/p>\n

Natan Datner<\/strong> for his role as Ganz in Ghetto, and Itay Tiran<\/strong> (who recently made his debut as a director in Woyzeck)\u00a0 for his role as Kittel.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A prize for Actors in a Supporting Role in memory of actor Nathan Kogan was inaugurated this year, with prizes awarded to Alon Dahan<\/strong> for his role in L’Hiver Sous La Table and Hanni Furstenberg<\/strong> for Ghetto.<\/p>\n

Scholarships for Young Actors in memory of Cameri Actress Edna Fleidel, were presented by composer Rafi Ben Moshe to Mei Feingold<\/strong> and Amir Dadon<\/strong>\u00a0currently performing\u00a0in Restless Night, Nadav Asoulin<\/strong> performing in Servant of Two Masters and Iyar Wolpe<\/strong> performing in the Itim Ensemble production of Herzl.<\/p>\n

This marks the second year that a prize in memory of former manager of the sales department Shula Hagari is awarded, with Yehudit Silver<\/strong> chosen as the outstanding employee in that department. Outstanding Cameri employees who received the Avraham Ben Yosef prizes this year are: Rima Hazin<\/strong> from the sewing department, Valeria Gluzman<\/strong> from props, Etti Elias<\/strong> from wardrobe, Zmira Ben Bassat<\/strong> and Hanni Karkovski<\/strong> from the membership department, Shai Sadeh<\/strong> from sound, Eli Timset<\/strong> from lighting, Aylon Meuded<\/strong> and Layzer Mens<\/strong> from tech, and usher Adam Henry.<\/p>\n
