I Can't Think Straight by Shamim Sarif <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Filmmakers Shamim Sarif and Hannan Kattan will be at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque tomorrow, Tuesday, October 26, 2010 with the films \u201cI Can\u2019t Think Straight\u201d and \u201cThe World Unseen.\u201d Sarif and Kattan are in Israel to participate in TedxHolyLand and will be presenting their films to audiences here.<\/p>\n

I Can\u2019t Think Straight<\/em> (UK 2007), by Shamim Sarif, produced by Hanan Kattan, will be screened at 19:00. The clash between family expectations and personal desires is the focus of this romantic comedy, based on Sarif’s third novel.\u00a0 Two women from traditional backgrounds meet: the Palestinian Tala, who is preparing for her wedding, and Leyla, a British Indian woman who wants to become a writer.<\/p>\n

At 20:45 there will be a special meeting with Shamim Sarif and Hanan Kattan hosted by Yasmin Max. The singer Leonie Casanova will perform the theme songs from the films. Free Admission.<\/p>\n

The World Unseen<\/em> (UK\/South Africa 2007) by Shamim Sarif, produced by Hanan Kattan, will be screened at 21:45. A period film adapted from Sarif\u2019s novel, set in 1950s South Africa, during the first days of Apartheid. Amina (Sheetal Sheth), an Indian South African woman, who runs the Locomotion Caf\u00e9 and dresses in men\u2019s clothing, meets Miriam (Lisa Ray), a pregnant housewife who lives in nearby Cape Town \u2013 and havoc ensues.<\/p>\n
