Tzavta\u2019s Short Theatre Festival will take place from December 22 \u2013 25, 2010, with 8 plays and a new project: 14\/48 \u2013 the name says it all, 14 plays will be written, staged and performed within 48 hours during the course of the festival.<\/p>\n

An annual festival that presents short theatre works (under 30 minutes) in a wide range of genres \u2013 drama, comedy, and even musicals, the Short Theatre Festival is an opportunity for playwrights and directors to experiment and try out ideas within a structure that invites a different approach and pace. For audiences, it\u2019s a chance to see several plays back to back, in the fun, fast-paced atmosphere of the festival.<\/p>\n

130 plays were submitted to the festival, of which 8 were selected by Festival Director Shalom Shmuelov and the members of the artistic committee: Prof. Shimon Levi, Aya Kaplan, Uzi Weil and Roy Maliach Reshef. The plays will be shown in three programs, listed below with dates and a short description provided by the festival:<\/p>\n

Gush Lekha<\/strong> [Hebrew: You Have a Lump] by Roni Hadar and Ori Orian, Directed by Rotem Keinan
\nMusic: Ziv Kessel, Performers: Ori Orian, Yuval Stunis, Roni Hadar.<\/p>\n

A musical telenovela, a crazy farce that takes place in a sleepy Spanish town where four babies are separated at birth by their mother; setting in motion a strange series of events. The three actors portray multiple characters.<\/p>\n

Main Boycott Officer<\/strong> by Ido Eshed, directed by Uri Hochman
\nPerformers: Dvir Bendak, Tal Talmon, Kobi Farag, Vered Feldman<\/p>\n

A satiric comedy, not engag\u00e9. The main boycott officer, Colonel Yedidya Refesh, is a serious person (his name is derived from two Hebrew words. Yedidya means friend of God, and refesh means mud or mire). He has lists of all the famous people who avoided military service and it angers him enormously that they have the nerve to be successful.<\/p>\n

A drama of late youth. Rafi and Niva meet at their 30 year class reunion. After the party, in a hotel room, they feel at once close and estranged and discover that they don\u2019t even agree on their versions of the past.<\/p>\n

A psychological parody. A therapist and client meet and play \u2013 seriously and in fun, with the stereotypes of psychotherapy. In the course of role reversal, the borders between the two become blurred and their inner pain is revealed.<\/p>\n

A theatrical drama for five actors and a lock. Three young actors in a repertory theatre refuse to begin rehearsals for yet another mediocre play that fawns on the audience, and sequester themselves in the rehearsal room. Their battle for the future of the theatre takes a toll they could not have foretold.<\/p>\n

Rahamim<\/strong> by Danny Zehavi, directed by Muli Shulman
\nMusic: Avi Grainik, Performers: Avi Grainik, Amitai Yaish-Ben Uzilio, Yuval Sharaf, Irit Pashtan, Rotem Levi<\/p>\n

A short, sad comedy. Rahamim [Hebrew: mercy], the oldest son of Tikva [Hebrew: hope], has nothing, but has learned to survive the suffering of existence through his rare imaginative capabilities, and for the first time in his life \u2013 experiences love.<\/p>\n

A psychosomatic comedy. On the eve of family day at the institute, one of the clients has a problem \u2013 the daughter has a serious eye infection. They have tried all remedies to no avail, the institute staff and clients suggest alternative methods.<\/p>\n
