Esti Zakhem and Libee Teneboim in A Tale of a Ring

Tmuna Theatre will present the play A Tale of A Ring – the story of Esther, accompanied by a discussion on “Prostitution in the Jewish World” on Saturday, March 24, 2012.

Adapted by Ilan Sheinfeld and Dalia Shimko from Sheinfeld’s novel, and directed by Dalia Shimko, a Tale of a Ring tells of Esther, a young Jewish girl in Danzig of the late 19th century, sent by her mother to Argentina to work as a maid in the homes of Jews, only to be forced into prostitution. The play will be performed at 19:00, followed by a panel discussion at 20:45. The panel includes Dalia Shimko; Haim Avni, Professor Emeritus of Contemporary Jewish History at the Institute of Contemporary Jewry at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, author of Tme’im (2009 – on the Jewish trade in women in Argentina and Israel); Adv. Naomi Levankorn; and will be moderated by actress Esti Zackheim.
