Cameri Theatre to Host Globe to Globe Hamlet

Come to Stratford on Shaul HaMelech as The Cameri Theatre hosts The Globe Theatre’s production of Hamlet! Shakespeare’s Globe embarked on a two year tour of Hamlet to every country in the world, and they will be coming to Israel for one performance only on March 30, 2016.

Directed by The Globe’s Artistic Director Dominic Dromgoole and Bill Buckhearst, the project began with the first performance on April 14, 2014, marking the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth. Since then, the travelling troupe has been just about everywhere, visiting over 170 countries. The purpose of this project is to bring the poetry and drama of Hamlet to as many people as possible, and it looks like it has been a huge success. In addition to bringing pleasure to audiences around the world, this is also a research project, exploring the impact of Shakespeare’s Hamlet on different people in diverse places and situations. Ladi Emeruwa and Naeem Hayat share the role of Hamlet, all other male and female parts are played in rotation by Keith Bartlett, John Dougall, Miranda Foster, Phoebe Fildes, Beruce Khan, Tom Lawrence, Jennifer Leong, Rawiri Paratene, Matthew Romain and Amanda Wilkin.

The performance will take place on March 30, 2016 in Cameri Theatre 3, at 20:00. The performance will be in English, without translation. Duration: two hours and 40 minutes, including intermission. Tickets will go on sale beginning Thursday, March 10, 2016, and may be ordered online from the Cameri Theatre website.
