Topping off the celebrations will be the Montefiore Ultrasound Fringe Music Festival on October 27 & 28, with admission still at an inviting low 30 NIS. Curated by Emmanuel Witstum, the festival connects the cultural activity of Tmuna with the Montifiore neighborhood.

Established on the site of the first Jewish orchard in Israel, the neighborhood was home to Natan Axelrod’s Carmel Films studio, and inspired Leah Goldberg’s “My Friend from Arnon Street.” Musicians and sound artists were invited to become better acquainted with the  neighborhood and create their site-specific musical responses. Participating musicians include: Eran Zur, Gilad Kahana, Avi Belleli, Hadas Ophrat, Ran Slavin, Salmanca, Nevet Yitzhak, Roy Fabian, Jacky, Mujahideen, and Asaf Talmudi, with a guest performance by Naama Shendar.

Choreographer Niv Sheinfeld and Oren Laor will reenact their version of Liat Dror and Nir Ben Gal’s Two Room Apartment, on October 19, 2012 at Tmuna Theatre in Tel Aviv.

Two Room Apartment, winner of the 1987 Gvanim Bemahol (Shades of Dance) Competition, is a landmark on the contemporary Israeli dance scene, in its use of the movements and gestures of everyday life onstage to explore the friction and intimacy of a couple’s relationship.
Sheinfeld and Laor take this work as a starting point for a new piece, which they will perform. The reenactment will include the original choreography, which relies heavily on repeated movements that create a symbolic framework, alongside Sheinfeld and Laor’s renewed vision which speaks from the vantage point of a different time and artistic sensibility.
Dance works are rarely revived on the Israeli stage, and this is an excellent opportunity to see the work and its relationship to the movement language of Sheinfeld and Laor. Dror and Ben Gal granted the choreographers permission to reenact and alter the work, and this will be reflected not only in the movement, but in the soundtrack.

The Best of A-Genre – a selection of works by Ari Teperberg & Anna Wild, Naama Shendar, Rafi & Roy Balbirsky, and Lee Lurian on October 17th at 19:00; October 18th at 19:00.

The Best of Intimadance – a selection of works by Yuval Goldstein, Olivia Court-Mesa, Gabriel Newhouse, Dana Ruttenberg and Maya Yogel on October 23 at 21:00, October 24 at 21:00.
