How Do You Say Tziporela in English?

Tziporela don’t just put on a show, they are the show, embodying comedy and irreverent entertainment in every word and movement. This incredibly talented cohort met in the course of their studies at the Nissan Nativ Acting Studio and came together as Tziporela in 2005  – a nine person creative collaborative troupe that has become a cult phenomenon in Israel. With three hit shows under their belt – Akitza Tivit (Born to Bite), Derech Hagav, and Heart Attack,  it is perhaps inevitable that their next step is to take over the world, starting at Tsavta Theatre in Tel Aviv next Saturday, December 15th.

Tziporela

Tziporela Worldwide merges material from Akitza Tivit and Heart Attack along with new sketches to create an all English show. Much of Tziporela’s unique appeal is in the expressive physicality of their work, with movement, music, song and dance featured prominently in the sketches. The shows consist of independent sketches, woven together to create a fast-paced show that makes fun of just about everything, with humor that reflects an acute awareness of human weaknesses. Yes, dear fellow audience members, they are laughing at us, but they are also laughing with us, in love and friendship.

Can comedy survive translation? If anyone can do it, Tziporela can. Tziporela are: Efrat Aviv, Dana Ivgy, Lotus Etrog, David Golan, Omri Doron, Tomer Nahir Petluk, Ben Perry, Gal Friedman, and Tamara Klayngon. All are incredibly talented and versatile performers. Here’s a peek at their zany style – Efrat Aviv and Gal Friedman in the Busy Love sketch from Akitza Tivit:

Tziporela Worldwide will premiere on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 21:00 at Tsavta, Tel Aviv.

  1. I love these guys! Saw them a few times when I was in Tel Aviv during the summer and even though my Hebrew was rusty, it was one of the most entertaining shows I’ve seen. Wish I was there for this new show in English!
