February is going to be a good month, I can feel it already. Or to be more precise – I can hear it. José González will be returning to Israel with his band Junip to perform one concert on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at The Barby in Tel Aviv.

If you love folk-rock, if you love music, I think this is one of those times when you really want to be there. * update * Feb 2: Concert sold out.

Breaking Bad fans – you’ve probably been listening to Junip. Line of Fire, a song from their 2013 album Junip, was the music for the season finale trailer.

More José González and Junip to warm you up for the concert – they are featured on the dreamy soundtrack of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, to be released in theatres this coming Thursday, December 26, 2013. Listen for: José González – Step Out, Stay Alive, and #9 Dream; Junip – Far Away and Don’t Let It Pass.

The introspective indie-musician and former bio-chemist was born in 1978 in Gothenburg, Sweden.  His family emigrated to Sweden from Argentina after the military junta takeover in 1976. Balancing rock with academics, González released his first solo album Veneer in 2003, followed by In Our Nature in 2007.

Junip was founded with friends Tobias Winterkorn and Elias Araya in 1998, making music in a friendly way while all three pursued other directions as well. In 2003 González’s solo career started going strong and Junip went into a holding pattern, yet remained very friendly.  The band released two EPs before their debut album Fields came out in 2010, followed by 2013’s Junip.
