The Israeli Opera in collaboration with the Israeli Children’s Fund (Atufim be’Ahava) presents a benefit concert dedicated to children who have lost a parent in the horrific events of October 7. The concert will feature English tenor Peter Wedd, and will take place on May 29, 2025, at Studio Annette in Tel Aviv, at 20:00.

Atufim be’Ahava means “wrapped in love” and the Israeli Children’s Fund (ICF) was established in the aftermath of the heinous October 7 attack. The founders are tech and business leaders who understood the far-reaching impact and the enormity of the loss and trauma suffered by these children. Many children have lost family members, homes and communities, as well as having seen and experienced horrors beyond description. The ICF embraces them, providing a network of security for these children, with financial and professional assistance and guidance, that will enable them to grow to health, leading fulfilling lives.

The Concert Program

The concert program will feature Ralph Vaughn William’s Songs of Travel, arias from Benjamin Britten’s Billy Budd, Peter Grimes and War Requiem, and Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs. English Tenor Peter Wedd has performed many roles on international stages, including the Prince in Rusalka by Dvořák, the title role in Wagner’s Lohengrin and Siegmund in Die Walküre, Florestan in Beehoven’s Fidelio and Hermann in Tchaikovsky’s Pique Dame. At the Israeli Opera he performed in a staged concert of Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem. Wedd will be joined onstage by Israeli pianist Daniel Chervinsky, a graduate of the Buchman Mehta School of Music at the Tel Aviv University. He studied piano under Haim Gotler and Emanuel Krasovsky and conducting under Ia An Xu and Yoav Talmi. He performed as a pianist in many concerts in Israel and abroad and received the Sharet and Ronen scholarships. He has worked at the Israeli Opera since 2019 as concert and rehearsal pianist and music coach.

The concert will take place on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 20:00 at Studio Annette Shvil ha-Merets 2, Tel Aviv-Yafo. Concert tickets may be purchased via this link.
