Prince Indik, a new play for children written and directed by Adina Tal and Dani Erlich, will be performed at the Na Laga’at Center at the Jaffa Port, during Hol HaMoed Sukkot: September 26 – 28th. A faraway kingdom happily anticipates the prince’s wedding, when a strange turn of events causes an uproar: the prince begins behaving like a rooster! Based on the story The Indik, by Rabbi Nachman of Breslev, with original music and vocals by Tzvi Tal, the play is performed by Eliran Golan, Alaa Sarsur, El-Ad Cohen, Hadar Nahari, Simon Mehari and Omer Hazan – who are all part of the deaf/hearing impaired, blind/sight impaired staff of waiters at the Na Laga’at Center.

Prince Indik is Na Laga’at’s first play for children, following the success of Light is Heard in ZigZag and Not On Bread Alone, performed by a unique ensemble of actors who are both deaf/hearing impaired and blind/sight impaired. Dedicated to the concept of “equal and different” the spacious and beautifully designed Na Laga’at Center invites visitors to experience the world in a new way.

Cultivate your communication skills at Café Kapisch which employs deaf/hearing impaired waiters. With a rich vocabulary that includes sign language, speech and lip-reading, the waiters are happy to assist customers in placing an order, teaching them some useful signs along the way. The café will become a giant Sukkah, with a special children’s menu and lots of decorating action from 12:00 – 18:30.

In addition to performances of Prince Indik, young visitors can participate in the workshops offered during the holiday: learning sign language, sculpting in the dark (for ages 8+ with a parent), and a workshop in the dark for younger children. Each workshop is 45 minutes long, and costs 20 NIS, tickets for Prince Indik are 40 NIS, and a combo ticket is 50 NIS. Workshops will take place Sunday thru Tuesday, from 15:00 – 17:00.
