Yoram Taharlev

The Cameri Theatre and the Israeli Educational Television will present a tribute performance to the Israeli poet and lyricist Yoram Taharlev, on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 11:00 and 13:30, moderated by Natan Datner.

Born and raised on Kibbutz Yagur, Taharlev has written about 1000 songs reflecting the mood and feel of Israeli life, the kind of songs that become part of the collective consciousness, the life and spirit of the cultural landscape.  Taharlev is considered one of the leading songwriters for the Zahal (IDF) Ensembles, writing lyrics for 132 songs, many set to the music of Yair Rosenblum.

You can hear Taharlev’s songs on the radio, his lyrics have been widely published and anthologized, and singers perform new covers to his songs. Taharlev is currently performing his words onstage himself, with a show he defines as “stand-up comedy for intelligent people” called “Rise and Faint in the Land” (inspired by Genesis 13:17 –   “Go, rise and walk the length and breadth of the land”).

Participating performers will include: Ran Eliran, Israel Gurion, Avi Grainek, Amir Dadon, The Gevatron, HaParvarim, Rivka Zohar, Shula Chen, Hanan Yovel, Dror Keren, May Feingold, Ola Schur-Selektar and the Cameri Young Ensemble – Nitzan Shaul, Yael Badash, Elinor Flaksman, Shimrit Levi Sasson, Eran Hagai, Adir Mor, Guy Bracha, Amir Hillel. Musicians: Niv Kaufman, Gilad Efrat, Amos Ever Hadani, Nitzan Ein Habar, Eitan Itzkovitch.
