“I can’t think about that right now. If I do, I’ll go crazy. I’ll think about that tomorrow” – words to live by for many a writer, made immortal by Scarlett O’Hara (Vivien Leigh) in Gone With the Wind. The epic film will return to the silver screen at YesPlanet as part of their new classics program, set to open in theatres on November 17, 2012.

Gone With the Wind, The Godfather, Some Like It Hot, The Good the Bad and the Ugly – these are movies that have become part of our collective cultural consciousness, permeating our lives whether we’ve seen them or not. Today when much of our viewing takes place on smaller and smaller screens (yes, I mean you, all you readers out there who lounge around watching movies on your smartphones), there is a special thrill to seeing a movie that is truly larger than life in every way. The films have been converted to digital format, either 4K or DCI 2K, and based on my peek at Gone With the Wind – resolution and colors look really good!

The classics program will include a first series of ten films, each to be shown for one week at YesPlanet Ayalon, Rishon LeZion and Haifa, with three screenings for each film: Saturday at 17:00; Sunday at YesPlanet Ayalon, Monday at YesPlanet Rishon LeZion, Tuesday at YesPlanet Haifa, all at 19:00; and Wednesdays at 21:30, except for longer films such as Ben Hur (21:00) and Gone With the Wind (20:30).

The first set of films will also include: Casablanca, West Side Story, Ben Hur, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Raging Bull and Psycho. It’s a wonderful opportunity to relive some of your favorite movie moments or finally make up for that dreadful lapse in your movie viewing history.

Now let me rave about YesPlanet Rishon LeZion! New, sleek and stylish, this venue offers a viewing experience well worth going out of your way. The theatre boasts 26 screening halls, four of them are VIP rooms and I can gladly confirm that they are luxurious, comfortable and a lot of fun. The Rishon LeZion venue will also be featuring the first 4D screening hall in Israel, with advanced technology that lets cinema meet amusement park: moving chairs, sprays of wind and water, scents of all kinds, fog and bubbles. Sounds like something to try.

Gone With the Wind will open at YesPlanet on November 17th, click here to link to the site (in Hebrew).
