“Like it! Like it!” Dancer/choreographer Gilles Chuyen called out to the crowd that gathered in the Suzanne Dellal courtyard today for an open workshop in Bollywood Dance. “Just have fun,” said Chuyen, “That’s the spirit of Bollywood.”
Watching Chuyen was a delight – it made everyone want to dance. Despite seeming impossibly fast, everyone had a go, even me. I came to the workshop to observe and take pictures, but about halfway through, the magical combination of music, moves and Chuyen’s enthusiasm enticed me to set the camera down and start to dance.
The Bollywood Dance workshop was the opening event of dance from India at Suzanne Dellal as part of Celebrating India in Israel – a month long festival of cultural events.
