Nissan Nativ Acting Studio presents Maggie Looks for Brick, a play based on Tennessee Williams Cat On a Hot Tin Roof, translated by Ehud Manor and directed by Lilach Dekel-Avneri.

From the press release:

A crowd of hopeful actresses turn out to audition for the part of Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and the competition will be tough. The male actors will face their own challenge when Paul Newman plays Brick. But before the applicants can begin to get organized, they find themselves deep in the play itself.

Lonely street cat Maggie seeks Brick’s love, and perhaps this will be the night when love becomes a reality and lies will turn into truth. Brick follows his own path, escaping his past in a bottle of whiskey. Gooper, Brick’s older brother, and his wife May, will appear, surrounded by children, to do battle with Maggie and Brick over the inheritance, as Big Daddy is dying of cancer.

And Big Daddy? Poised between life and death on his 65th birthday, he tries to regain control and escape the clutches of Big Mama, who only wants what is best for him. There is a bed that will come to Maggie’s aid, and a boxing arena will appear and then disappear just as suddenly. And on this hot, nightmarish tin roof issues of love and death, primal urges and sexuality, truth and lies, will be explored.
