The MozART Group, a Poland-based cabaret and comedy string quartet, will perform in Israel with concerts in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa. Performances will take place from May 19 – 21, 2022. The quartet has performed in 50 countries over the past 30 years, bringing their signature style of excellent mayhem to familiar classical works. MozART Group members – violinists Filip Jaślar and Michał Sikorski, viola player Paweł Kowaluk, and cellist Bolesław (Bolek) Błaszczyk, are all classically trained in the music academies of Warsaw and Łódz. Yet they sought to offer a more playful alternative to the formal atmosphere of concert halls, bringing humor into their musical arrangements. Playing together since 1995, the group performed their first cabaret show “Mozart’s Still Alive” in 1997. Over the years they have received many awards, and collaborated with artists such as Bobby McFerrin.
In Israel they will perform their new show “Mozart Comes to Town” with unique humorous arrangements that merge classical works with contemporary music. Utilizing their instruments in surprising ways, their performance is theatrical as well as musical. Their new show includes works by Mozart, Johann Sebastian Bach, Beethoven, Grieg, Bizet, Offenbach and Paganini. These are interspersed with familiar songs from the Italian repertoire such as Funiculi-Funicula and O Sole Mio; music from films such as The Godfather, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid; Lennon-McCartney songs Help, Michelle, and She Loves You; and Always Look at the Bright Side of Life made popular by Monty Python.
