“Maps and Participation” – Gallery Talk at Zadik

A gallery talk on Maps and Participation will take place at the Zadik Gallery in Jaffa on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 20:30. The talk accompanies the exhibition Participation by artist Detel Aurand. The symposium will be moderated by Hana Coman, the exhibition’s curator. Participants: Shaul Arieli, Dr. Alex Coman, Dr. Moti Kedar, Shlomzion Kenan and Ohad Shaaltiel.

The gallery says of Aurand’s work: Aurand chooses to begin her art works on maps. From a random point on the map she creates a new colorful world, ornamental and poetic. Her initial starting point is naive and aesthetic. In our region, maps are associated with conflicted, less naive borders.
