Get your couch ready and bring out the beer, the Simpsons are coming to IBA Channel 1! The 21st season will be broadcast starting this Friday, March 16, 2012 at 18:00.

The series that needs no introduction was created by Matt Groening and first aired as shorts on the Tracey Ullman Show in 1987. A satiric perspective on American culture, the award winning show is the longest-running American sitcom – ironically, perhaps, a hopeful commentary on American culture. The Simpsons are a typically dysfunctional middle class American family (the characters are named for members of Groenig’s family) – Homer, Marge, and their three children: Bart (aka Matt), Lisa, and Maggie. The show is set in the fictional town of Springfield, and if this information is new to you, then you really need to reconsider how much time you devote to work, family, friends, creative projects and other activities that interfere with television and internet.

In the season’s first episode, Comic Book Guy (voiced by Hank Azaria) creates a new superhero called Everyman who takes powers from other superheroes. Homer is cast as the lead in the film adaptation. To get Homer into shape, the movie studio hires a celebrity fitness trainer, Lyle McCarthy to help him. Homer gets into great shape but Homer’s life falls apart when his fitness trainer quits and the movie bombs at the box office.

Guest stars this season include: Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Anne Hathaway, Jacky Mason, Neve Campbell and Eartha Kitt. Episode 16 takes the family to Jerusalem – so stay tuned!

The Simpsons will be on Channel 1 every Friday at 18:00, starting March 16, 2012.
