The Culture of Peace Festival will take place from May 21 – 24, 2012 at Tzavta Theatre in Tel Aviv. Now in its 10th edition under the artistic direction of Eli Grinfeld, the festival brings together musicians from diverse languages, cultures and genres generating multicultural dialogue through its unique festival productions.

The festival program:

Monday, May 21st at 21:00 – Maurice el Médioni with Dialna
Opening the festival will be the “King of Raï” hosting “Dialna” – a young quintet dedicated to reviving the spirit of North African Jewish music. Enjoy a mélange of Arab-Jewish soul music, Andalusian rhythms, Rhumba, Flamenco and even Boogie-Woogie!

Tuesday, May 22th at 21:00 – Yonit Shaked Golan hosting Shirin Daniel

Israeli songs inspired by Arabic and Middle Eastern music. Songs by Yosef Hadar, Yedidya Admon, Nahum Nardi, Mordechai Zeira, Alexander Penn, Natan Alterman, Avraham Shlonsky, Yaacov Orland and Arabic/Palestinian classics by the Rehavani Brothers, Marcel Khalifa and more…

Trei Parale

Wednesday, May 23rd at 21:00 – Yair Dalal, Erez Monk & Trei Parale
Yair Dalal will host Trei Parale, a Romanian band that performs a genre of traditional Romanian music, with diverse ethnic influences (Jewish, Armenian, Turkish, Greek), and traditional instruments. Band members: Florin Iordan, the leader of the group (pipes, kobsa), Daniel Pop (vocals, pipes, percussion, Jew’s harp), Beatrice Iordan (vocals, kobsa) şi Dinu Petrescu (percussion). In addition to their performance at the festival, Tri Parale will also have a concert in Jerusalem on May 24th at 20:00 at the Music Hall of the Ramat Eshkol City Library (3 Karl Netter St., Jerusalem), both performances are sponsored by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv.

Thursday, May 24th at 21:00 – Esther Rada and her band

The talented actress/singer will take the audience on a journey through Israeli Ethiopian musical culture.
