My name is Bond. James Bond. The words still give me a thrill. I hear them in Sean Connery’s deep brogue, even though there have been many Bonds since then – George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and now – Daniel Craig, who will star in Skyfall, soon to be released in Israeli theatres October 26, 2012.

Whether you’re a fan of Bond, his cars and gadgets, or the delectable Bond Girls, get ready for a Bond fest! Global James Bond Day marks the 50th anniversary of Dr. No, first screened on October 5, 1962, in London. Joining the worldwide celebrations there will be screenings of three classic Bond films in Israel on October 18, 2012:

Dr. No (1962) – Directed by Terence Young. The first Bond film in the series, Sean Connery is the ultimate 007, swoon at your own risk. Revel in the retro look of all his futuristic gadgets, and for those water-sports fans, there’s always Ursula Andress.

From Russia With Love (1963) – Directed by Terence Young. Bond is back and better than ever! This film also features some Israeli nostalgia: beauty queen Aliza Gur, Miss Israel 1960 and a semi-finalist in the Miss Universe pageant, in action!

Goldfinger (1964) – Directed by Guy Hamilton.  Pussy Galore, Shirley Eaton all in gold, and the sizzling Shirley Bassy singing Goldfinger – all this and Sean Connery too!

All three films will be screening in Israeli theatres countrywide on Thursday, October 18, 2012 – with three screenings for each film. The films will be screened at:
Yes Planet – Rishon LeZion, Haifa, Ayalon
Rav Chen – Dizengof, Jerusalem, Modi’in, Rehovot, Kiryat Ono, Givatayim, Herzliya, Petach Tikvah
Cinema City – Glilot, Rishon LeZion
Globus – Kiriyon, Netanya, Beer Sheva, Modi’in, Ashdod, Kfar Saba, Hod HaSharon, Ashkelon

World celebrations of Global James Bond Day include a  celebration of “The Music of Bond” at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in LA on October 5th; and opening at the MOMA on the same day: “Goldfinger: The Design of an Iconic Film Title” and “50 Years of James Bond.”

Indulge in Bond nostalgia! The legend lives on – Skyfall will open in Israel on October 26th with Daniel Craig as 007 and the imposing Judi Dench as M!
