Kisufim: The Third Jerusalem Conference of Jewish Writers and Poets will take place at Beit Avi Chai and Mishkenot Sha’ananim from February 5 – 8, 2013.  The theme of this year’s conference is “Language and Memory.”

The conference gathers in Jewish writers from all over the world, creating connections between writers working in different languages and cultures, and local readers. Among this year’s international guests are novelist Nathan Englander (US), poet Robert Pinsky (US), Mario Levi (Turkey), and Nora Gold (US), founder of Jewish Fiction. net. http://www.jewishfiction.net/index.php/home/ Israeli writers at the conference include: Etgar Keret, Meir Shalev, Avirama Golan, Dov Elbaum, Sarah Blau and many more poets and writers.

Festival highlights include a tribute to poet Haim Gouri, a conversation between Etgar Keret and Nathan Englander, a three-way discussion with A.B. Yehushua, Joshua Sobel and Bernard-Henri Lévy, and an evening of young poets & writers. The Matanel Award for young promising writer for  a Hebrew Poet and for an English Writer will be awarded to Eli Eliyahu and Joshua Cohen, respectively. The awards ceremony will take place on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 20:00 at Beit Avi Chai.

Conference events include poetry and prose readings, workshops with students and researchers, and discussions among writers. Festive evening events merge literature, music and performance. The full festival schedule is available in English on the Kisufim website.
